Barbie’s Wedding Dress

Barbie wedding dress

Today is Barbies Birthday and she looks great for 50, although between you and me I think she’s had some work done! I wondered about Barbie and Ken, if they are married or just living in sin. I had a look and found Barbie Bride’s.

She seems to be fond of the traditional white dress with long veil. The above image has a strapless dress and full skirt which seems to suit her figure well. After trying on many wedding dresses I’d have to admit this is one of my favorite styles, but the skirt can be a bit uncomfortable depending on the layers and weight of the material. The image below shows an imitation of the famous Vera Wang wedding dress, which is fitted with an elaborate fishtail that spills into a short train.

The first Barbie doll was released 50 years ago today and is one of the most popular children’s toy to date, approximately 3 barbie dolls are sold every second all over the world and older Barbies, if in good condition, are worth thousands. Vogue famously published an article a few years ago urging its fashion conscious readers to buy a Barbie in mint condition and hide it under their bed for a few years.

Testing the Champagne

wedding champagne toast

My first task ,after booking the venue, is to find some excellent wines and champagnes for the reception. We are planning a trip to France, where we have a mobile home, and I intend to test as much of the champagne as I can. We have a couple of bottles of Veuve Clicquot which we can taste before we go, but I have absoulutely no idea what other champagnes there are available. We are expecting to have to buy quite a few bottles, about half a bottle per guest, so bringing it back from France, the home of Champagne, seems the cheapest option. we are going at Easter, so think of me, trawling the vineyards, testing Champagne. It’s a hard job, but I have to do it, as John will be driving.

When I have sorted the Champagne, I’ll have to start on the red wine. The things I do for my daughter.

getting engaged

January 2008 Luke and me took a nice sunny break in Tenerife, we needed to get away from the January blues and spend some quality time together. I was just about to start my job at Search Media and seemed the perfect time to go away. Luke’s sister Emma got us a good deal on the flights and we used my parents Timeshare.

The flight was in the mddle of the night and we set of from Chorlton to Manchester airport at stupid o clock. The flight was about 4 hours and we watched stardust which got us in the mood for a god holiday and feeling a little loved up.

We had a good week and we had been looking round jewelry stores to find a replacement ring for a ring one of my exes had given me years ago. We tried a lot of rings on and I fell in love with a diamond ring that was a bit out of our budget. It had 7 diamonds arranged with the biggest in the middle then moving down in size either side. 7 is a lucky number for us as our first date was on the 7th July 2007 (07/07/07) and Luke decided to buy the ring for me. During this time we had been texting our parents who were excited thinking it was an engagement ring.

After hearing the disapointment in our parents voices that we weren’t getting engaged I thought well why not? Both me and Luke had that level of comitment we did had a chat and decided to get engaged so the ring that was meant for my middle finger went on the engagement ring finger (and still needs re sized).

We joke that it wasn’t a very romantic engagement but really it was. We ordered a bottle of Champagne with the last of our euros as it was our last night and celebrated.

If you have any engagement stories you’d like to share and help blokes with how to ask that questions please get in touch.
